The Aftermath – A 'shear' £376 raised!

Wow what a touching day we had yesterday. Last week, I posted to explain how our friend, Elaine, who has cancer and will begin radiotherapy this week, decided to lose her hair on her own terms and raise money for Rett Syndrome in the process.

Leading up to the ‘shearing’ party, The News ran an article about Elaine and the fight for her life. In it, she explained that while she is nearing the end of her life, Gracie is at the beginning of hers and she wanted to raise funds and awareness about the research being conducted to reverse the MECP2 gene responsible for Rett Syndrome.

In the end, £376 was raised through donations here on the blog and in a pot on the day of the party. I will write a cheque to RSRT and the money will go straight into research – every last penny. Thank you!

Also, thank you to my husband Steven, Basil, Harvey and Pearce, all of whom shaved their heads to stand with Elaine in her time of need and support. Thank you – we love you all!
